Tyson Fury is left red-faced after sharing a story about how he ‘slept’ with Dillian Whyte

‘We ate together, we SLEPT together…’: Tyson Fury is left red-faced after sharing a story about how he shared a room with Dillian Whyte when they were sparring partners to leave press conference guests in hysterics

  • Tyson Fury finally faced off against Dillian Whyte ahead of their Wembley bout
  • Fury recalled a time when he and Whyte were close and shared a room together
  • He said the pair ‘ate and slept together’, leaving the room in fits of laughter

Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte had a close relationship at the start of their careers – though the Gypsy King left press conference guests thinking it was a little too close after revealing they once ‘slept together’ during a training camp.

The admission left Whyte, his team and the watching press in hysterics as Fury recalled their friendship and the time they spent together as sparring partners – with the Body Snatcher drafted in to help him prepare for his fight against David Haye in 2012.

Fury and his upcoming opponent – who will finally end their feud at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night – survived a largely uneventful and respectful final press conference until they were both forced to play peacemakers after Tyson’s dad John started a fight with Whyte’s team.

But before that Fury had paid tribute to Whyte and his fighting ability – reflecting on the memories they had at the start of their careers, including a time when they shared the same room.

‘Dillian came in and did his job along with the rest of the guys,’ Fury said.

‘He was there, helping me, prepare for a fight. It’s not about whether he beat me up in a spar or I beat him up in a spar, we were there working together and we were good friends.

‘We went out for a drink together, we ate together, we slept together…’

The room then erupted into laughter as Whyte suddenly turned to look at Fury in shock – with the Gypsy King then realising what he had just said.

‘We didn’t sleep together bro!’ said Whyte. ‘We slept in a similar surrounding but not together bro!’

Fury began laughing along with the rest of the room before saying: ‘I’m sorry man!’

After regaining some composure, he later added: ‘There was no animosity [between us], I don’t disrespect anyone. Everyone who comes into my training camp, I look after them like my own family. We both helped each other out on the way and that’s it. We’re different men today. He’s a lot improved and so am I.

‘He’s a good fighter Dillian Whyte. He’s a good strong man, he’s tough he’s game. He’s got a good punch that has knocked out a lot of men. He has a lot of experience in the fight game. He’s a man who needs a lot of respect.

It came after the pair had to join forces to break up a potential scuffle between their two camps at the face-off.

It was John Fury who was the instigator as he began shouting at Whyte’s brother Dean with both sides becoming increasingly animated before the two heavyweights stepped in to halt it.

Whyte led the criticism of John Fury after the event, saying he was ‘shouting and screaming like a child’.

‘Tyson Fury’s dad needs to relax,’ Whyte told BT Sport after the press conference had ended. ‘My man’s 600 years old, and he’s stepping forward, trying not to let my guys get on the stage.

‘I told him, “John calm down, you’re an adult. You keep shouting and screaming like a child, relax. It’s our day. Why are you getting yourself involved, this is mine and your son’s day.”

‘He’s always trying to get in front of his son. I just said old man take it easy.’

He continued: ‘John was trying to start something. He’s stupid because it’s a big fight. He’s trying to rob 90,000 fans of a fight. John Fury is an idiot, he’s a real idiot.’

Fury was also given the opportunity to explain the scuffle in the immediate aftermath, and the Gypsy King insisted the fight will sell itself.

‘I’ve just prevented a big ruckus on stage,’ he said. ‘People want a big ruckus, they want to see punching and screaming, but let the two boxers do a fight and enjoy it. It’s not for entourages to get involved.

‘We’re here to do a fight. People are in for a real fight. We don’t need to scream and shout.’
