Damar Hamlin is ‘AWAKE and showing signs of improvement’ says Bills teammate Kaiir Elam as physicians reveal the Buffalo safety is ‘neurologically intact’ after suffering on-field cardiac arrest on Monday

Damar Hamlin is awake and showing signs of improvement after suffering a cardiac arrest and being resuscitated during Monday’s Bills-Bengals game in Cincinnati.

Buffalo cornerback Kaiir Elam made the announcement Thursday on Twitter: ‘Our boy is doing better, awake and showing more signs of improvement. Thank you God. Keep the prayers coming please. All love 3!’

The Bills released their own encouraging statement as well, noting that Hamlin’s lungs are improving and he is neurologically intact. 

‘Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has show remarkable improvement over the last 24 hours,’ read the team statement. While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress.

‘We are grateful for the love and support we have received.’
